I Appreciate Tom Kelly and the Inland Seas

Suttons Bay MI, where I live, is a small village on Lake Michigan. We are near the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes National Lakeshore.

In the spirit of the purple plate, I'd like to express my deepest appreciation for Tom Kelly and the entire staff at Inland Seas Education Association.

Tom Kelly and the Inland Seas

The Great Lakes are in danger, now more than ever before due to climate change, evasive species, over-use, and pollution.

People like Tom Kelly, Captain and co-founder of The Inland Seas Education Schoolship, are making a difference by teaching young people about the great lakes.

Go to The Inland Seas website to learn more about how you can help protect the Great Lakes.

Thank you, Tom, for all you have done, and all that you do, to inspire others to keep our waters clean.

Above is a picture of Tom and his family using the purple plate at their dinner table.

Please leave a comment here if you would like to tell Tom and or the Indland Seas staff what you love and appreciate about them.

If you, or someone you know, would like to publicly express appreciation for a particular person or organization, contact me, Jolynn Paige, at thepurpleplate@charter.net, or call me at 231-409-2050.

I appreciate Tom Kelly & Inland Seas as well - they are raising awareness about the state of the Lakes, equipping young folks with the tools to measure their world, and with the knowledge that by measurement and reasoned application of knowledge we can shape the world.

I also appreciate Tom because he's never wavered from his dream and when I see that dream made real as the schooner Inland Seas sailing on Suttons Bay, I feel happier for it.

I appreciate Tom Kelly's love and commitment to his two children, Emma and Graham. I know first hand of many times he has unselfishly volunteered to participate/chaperone school outings the children have been involved in. His gentle nature and quiet demeanor make him an effective guide and powerful role model.

Was it just dumb luck or what...we end up with what is a very special research organizattion, committed to saving the Great Lakes and for those of us who live in Sutons Bay, we can walk to the research center and the docks that provide its home base. I feel very proud and fortunate to have Tom and his dedicated people among us...and when I "show off" Suttons Bay to my visitors, Inland Seas is high in my vicarious bragging rights. What's not to like about our local Captain Tom? He helps us all appreciate what we take for granted every day, our glorious Inland Seas. He is mindful always, of ways he can support and empower the future generations understanding of the fragile nature of life.
I am grateful for him, Anne, Emma, and Graham as well who are exceptional stewards of the earth and humanity in their own right. Love you, Kellys, one and all!!!

If ever there was a sea chanty written about Tom,
it would be about he and his family ...
but on a boat ; )

The whole Kelly family is pretty amazing!

Oh yeah, and I appreciate the Inland Seas for
what they are doing to raise the awareness of the Great Lakes.

Kudos to the whole organization!
